I am board certified by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and American Board of Emergency Medicine. I received my M.D. from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine Science in Biological Sciences from University of California, Irvine. I founded the Vein and Skin Center of Hawaii in 2007. I started practicing medicine in 2000, serving as an emergency physician for several hospitals in California and Illinois, including Irvine Regional Hospital and Medical Center, and Eisenhower Medical Center. What first interested you in going into this type of medical care?

The technology and innovation available to help patients rejuvenate the appearance of the face and various areas of the body are incredible, and these treatments are truly life transforming. Supporting patients, delivering results and making a difference in their lives are the reasons why I’m so passionate about the work we do at Vein and Skin Center of Hawaii. Please tell us about miraDry. When did you start offering it? How does it work? miraDry is a clinically proven, FDA-approved treatment that permanently eliminates underarm sweating and odor in as little as one treatment. We were the first clinic in Hawaii to offer this, making it available to men and women in March 2016. The miraDry procedure works by delivering precisely controlled heat-based energy to safely remove sweat and odor glands that reside in the underarms, stopping sweat and no longer requiring the use of deodorants or antiperspirants to cover up sweat and odor. The non-invasive procedure is easy and has little to no down time. A small amount of local anesthetic is used to ensure maximum comfort, and most patients are able to go back to work that same day, and standard routines and exercise can be resumed within a few days of the treatment. In addition to miraDry, patients may also choose to experience the miraS mooth treatment, which permanently can remove underarm hair of any color, including light and white hair, after only one to two treatments. Three months after miraDry, the initial miraSmooth treatment is scheduled, with the second miraSmooth session approximately six weeks later. Each miraSmooth treatment lasts about 15 minutes. The miraSmooth experience utilizes the Vectus laser, a dedicated solution for high-volume hair removal, using optimized technology to provide fast, uniform, permanent hair reduction for the widest range of skin and hair types. miraSmooth is your premium three-inone aesthetic treatment that will take care of hair, sweat and odor.

Who is miraDry for? What are the benefits?

miraDry is for anyone looking to help manage underarm sweat and odor. It’s an in-office procedure that provides a permanent solution for underarm sweat. Imagine never having to put on antiperspirants again, miraDry paves the way for that. You can expect immediate and lasting results – sweat glands don’t come back after treatment. Recent clinical information confirms an average of 82 percent sweat reduction in most patients after only one treatment. As with any aesthetic treatment, results will vary by person. Are there any side effects? The miraDry treatment has a strong safety record. Some localized soreness or swelling will occur, and typically clears within a few weeks. Some patients have short-term altered sensation in the skin of their underarms or upper arms, which gradually disappears. Got to miraDry for more information about the treatment.
