Jennifer Bowers (formerly Pang) is President of Pang Communications, a division of Global Sourcing LLC. With more than 25 years of public relations experience, she specializes in developing strategic communications programs that use all methods of communication to deliver results. Jennifer is well versed in media relations, including crisis communications and business-to-business marketing, media spokesperson training, special event planning and promotions, community relations, executive positioning, and of course, digital strategy and execution. Jennifer works hand-in-hand with her clients to develop and implement award-winning integrated marketing programs dedicated to providing measurable results.
Jennifer founded Pang Communications in 2006, after nearly five years at Hawaii’s largest full-service integrated marketing services firm where she served as a director for the corporate communications group. During this tenure, Jennifer worked with many Hawaii companies in a wide variety of fields including retail, real estate, design and construction, shipping, technology and economic development, as well as financial institutions and law firms. She provided strategic counsel and implementation for a variety of communications programs, developed branding and key messages, media-trained spokespeople, and organized and executed events.
Previously, Jennifer worked as marketing communications area manager at Paramount’s Kings Island, the Midwest’s largest and most popular theme park, located near Cincinnati. There, she rebuilt the media relations program, spearheaded community outreach initiatives, assisted in crisis communications issues, organized and executed corporate special events for brands such as Nickelodeon™ , Tomb Raider™, Survivor™, and served as spokesperson in broadcast and print interviews. Earlier, she worked at Dan Pinger Public Relations, Cincinnati’s largest full-service public relations firm, rising from account administrator to senior account executive in less than three years, working with a wide range of clients such as Tiffany & Co., Deloitte & Touche LLP, and the City of Cincinnati.
Before beginning her career in public relations, Jennifer served as a news writer for Cincinnati’s top-ranked morning show, on WKRC-TV (CBS). Earlier, she had on-camera experience at KSNT-TV (NBC) in Topeka, Kansas, where she worked as a reporter trainee while still in college.
Today, Jennifer and Pang Communications provide pro bono services to a variety of Hawaii nonprofits. Previously, Jennifer served on the AIA Honolulu board, providing pro bono communications services (2018 to 2020). She also served on the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Honolulu board of directors, where she chaired the Public Relations Committee for six years. As an active member of The Junior League of Honolulu she served on the 85th Anniversary committee, the provisional committee, arrangements committee, HerStory Women’s Conference committee and Sacs in the City fundraiser committee. Jennifer has provided pro bono services to a variety of non-profit organizations in Hawaii, including Manoa Elementary (2016), Lanakila Pacific Creative Committee (2015), Wai‘alae Public Charter School (2014 and 2013), The Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation (2012 and 2011), Voyager Public Charter School (2010) and Email Foster Parents International (2009). As a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, in 2003 Jennifer provided public relations counsel for the organization’s largest fund-raiser, Relay For Life, while also serving in 2003 and 2004 as publicity chair and planning committee member for its Boots on the Beach fundraiser. She also volunteered as public relations co-counsel for the March of Dimes prematurity campaign in 2004.
Pacific Business News named Jennifer among its prestigious Forty Under 40 class in 2009 – honoring forty of Hawaii’s best and brightest under the age of 40 who show a high degree of business acumen and sharp business-like approaches to efficiency and change. Meanwhile, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Hawaii Chapter has honored Jennifer with nearly 30 Koa Anvil and Koa Hammer awards for public relations work done on behalf of her clients. PRSA honors include the prestigious BEST IN SHOW award in 2009 for the highest-scoring nomination in the state of Hawaii; the first boutique agency in Honolulu’s history to win this award. In addition, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) has awarded Pang Communications a dozen awards for client work.
Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University (Evanston, Ill.). She is a graduate of The School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati where she completed a double major in musical theater and vocal music. She still performs today at the biennial Society of Professional Journalists GRIDIRON at Diamond Head Theatre. Athletically as well as musically inclined, Jennifer played for the Women’s Water Polo Club at Northwestern University, and in 2008 she completed her first triathlon. These days she competes in various open ocean swims around Oahu and enjoys attempting to play beach volleyball and trying to surf whitewater in Waikiki at Pops and Canoes. Jennifer also paddled for the Waikiki Beach Boys Canoe Club, placing in the top ten in Na Wahine O Ke Kai (Molokai Channel race) in 2003, 2004 and 2005. She is a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Charles Calvin McCoy Chapter, named after her great-great-great-great-grandfather. She is a single mother living in Manoa with her sons, Kailoa and Kawika.
