Born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, Chad Kanui Lovell has over two decades of professional communications experience. He is currently a Director at Pang Communications, working on a variety of public relations programs, including business and consumer marketing, executive communications, and media and community relations. He has enjoyed a collaborative partnership with Pang Communications since May 2009.
Chad started his career at KITV 4 ABC News in Honolulu, where he co-produced the #1-rated KITV 4 News at 5 with Pamela Young and Gary Sprinkle. He also worked as the weekend assignment editor, managing a newsroom staff of 10 employees. After six years in local news, he transitioned into the world of public relations, serving as a senior account executive with Communications Pacific, working with companies such as Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Hawaii, Macy’s, Kaneohe Ranch, The Shidler Group and McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii.
Later, he joined his alma mater, Kamehameha Schools, as a communications specialist, managing public relations for Kamehameha’s three kindergarten through grade 12 campuses on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii, as well as statewide community programs. He also gained valuable international business experience, serving as a global communications manager for BlackBerry. Chad has received multiple awards over the last decade for his work from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
Chad graduated with honors from Kamehameha Schools and earned a bachelor’s in journalism with distinction from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He received the 1996 University of Hawaii Journalism Alumni Association Award in Broadcasting. He resides in London, Ontario and loves visiting Hawaii when he can.
